Rod Gilbert- April 27th

I mentioned in my last post that you never know where I may end up on any given day. Today I wound up at the Rangers offices at Madison Square Garden with Hall of Famer Rod Gilbert. It was really cool. I have been to the Garden well over one hundred times (saw my share of Springsteen shows there), but it was a real treat to go behind the scenes. The walls are decorated with a number of framed jerseys including Jaromir Jagr's. There is even an old game jersey of Gilbert's up on the wall. Rod told me all about Messier's retirement night. He was on the ice with Mark, Mike Richter and Eddie Giacomin for the entire ceremony. He spoke of how high an honor it is to have your number retired by the organization and how special Messier's night was.
Thanks for all your email questions for Don Mattingly. Even though I limited it to three questions I will try to get more answered. I will be conducting the signing with Donnie early tomorrow morning.
Check back tomorrow evening for an update on my signing with the Hitman.
