August 10th- Duke Snider

We had a surprise visitor to our office today. It was none other than "The Duke of Flatbush" Duke Snider. Snider came up (courtesy of MC) to sign some baseballs and do a great interview for our "Memories of the Game" program on the YES Network. Duke was an eight time All-Star and led the Brooklyn Dodgers to victory in the 1955 World Series. I have been looking at Snider's stats and am completely blown away by them. He batted over .300 seven times and hit 40 plus homeruns five times. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1980. While researching Duke I came across alot of information on the fabled Ebbets Field. In 2009 the Mets new stadium will be up and running and is modeled after the old Brooklyn ballpark. I am one of the few that will actually miss Shea Stadium but am extremely excited about the new park. It will be a true throwback to the days when the Duke owned the city.
Check back tomorrow for some new photos and a preview of the upcoming weekend.
