October 30th- Dan Marino

Saturday afternoon, in the rain, I drove a fifteen foot boxtruck full of footballs and helmets out to Last Licks in Huntington. I needed to get out there a few hours early to unload and set up for our signing with Dan Marino. It is not easy to park and unload a truck on Main Street Huntington on anyday, let alone a Saturday in torrential rains. We got it done though. I am just glad the store had an extra Mets-Steiner t-shirt for me to change into. I was drenched. Dan arrived at about 6:15. I am always amazed at how many Dolphins fans come out of the woodwork when Marino appears. There was a great crowd and, on an individual level, Dan is so kind to all of them. He took photos and shared anecdotes with everyone. Once the line finished he began signing the private items. I did make sure to probe Marino on his feelings about the Giants. Dan said that Eli is the real-deal. That made me feel pretty good considering it was coming from, arguably, the greatest quarterback of all time. He also spoke about the CBS pre and postgame shows that he is on each week. It is, according to Marino, just as fun as it appears to be on television. He is having a blast doing it with Boomer and Carter. We finally finished at a little before 9:00. We packed up and headed back to Westchester with a truck full of helmets and footballs. I got some incredible product signed including Pitt jerseys and Hall of Fame inscription helmets.
Check back later for some more new photos.
