February 26th- Peyton Manning

Early this morning I boarded a flight to Indianapolis for a private signing with SB 41 MVP (and Steiner Exclusive) Peyton Manning. I was a little nervous about the flight's status as I was a mere day removed from my flight to Tampa being cancelled. (The Johnny Damon signing will take place next week in Florida instead). Thankfully the weather cooporated and I landed in Indy at about 10:30 this morning. After a few hours of setting up Peyton walked in at about 1:00. Just from knowing Eli I was pretty certain that Peyton would be great. I was right- the guy is awesome. He is incredibly down to earth, especially considering his larger than life status. We got through a big chunk of the signing today including the two amazing photos that we have been displaying on the web site. Manning signing a limited number of each image with the SB 41 MVP inscription. I will be meeting up with Peyton again tomorrow to continue and conclude this signing. Check back for updates and more photos.

February 25th- Bobby Nystrom, Al Arbour and Ken Morrow

I just got home from our last Islanders appearance of this run that we have been having. Earlier today Bobby Nystrom, Al Arbour and Ken Morrow signed at Last Licks Massapequa. Not surprisingly it was one of the bigger Islander crowds we have had during this two weekend period. The main reason for the larger than usual crowd seemed to be Al Arbour. He does not sign very often and is a must-have on any team signed piece. Again I saw many of the same faces that have been there for the other two appearances. I also saw quite a few 1980 USA hockey pieces brought in for Ken to sign. It is incredible how the legacy of that team grows every year. Recently we have been doing a very cool inscription photo from that incredible victory with Jim Craig. Ken, Bobby and Al were unbelievable with their fans. Everytime I looked up one of them was motioning for kids to come around the table to take a photo or getting up to greet someone. After and before the public portion of the day all three guys signed amazing product for us including new photos of Bobby and Ken and special inscription Arbour 8x10s. I was also able to get closer to completion on our Islander projects. I cannot wait for you all to see these when they are done. They are, by far, some of the best team pieces we have done in a long time.
Tomorrow morning, weather permitting, I am off to Tampa for a private signing with Johnny Damon followed immediately by a two day trip to Indianapolis to work with Peyton Manning. Check back for updates.

February 24th- Billy Smith and Bob Bourne

I just returned home from Last Licks Huntington where we had our appearance with Islanders legends Billy Smith and Bob Bourne. I saw many familiar faces on line waiting for an autograph from the guys. They were the same people who braved the cold last weekend to meet Bossy, Gillies and Trottier and will undoubtably be there tomorrow. Overall it was an awesome appearance. We got some unbelievable new photos of Billy and Bob including one of Billy in the locker room with the Stanley Cup. Interestingly enough Smith was talking about he had never held the cup on the ice. He was always the first back to the locker room to start celebrating. Aside from signing new individual product the guys also added their signatures to some incredible multi-signed projects that we will soon unveil. Tomorrow we will have our final Islanders appearance for a while when Al Arbour, Ken Morrow and Bob Nystrom sign at Last Licks Massapequa from 12:00-12:30. I am looking forward to continuing our teams pieces as well as seeing all of you that have been out the past few weekends at the Islanders signings. Check back for a recap.

Also there has already been an addition to my signings itinerary for the next few weeks. Before flying to Phoenix for the Steve Nash signing next week I will be in Denver for a private signing with Nuggets superstar (and Steiner Exclusive) Carmelo Anthony. Be sure to check back daily (starting Monday) for updates from the road.

February 21st

Here is, as promised, a preview of the next few weeks. This weekend, in keeping up with the recent hockey theme, we have two great Islanders appearances. On Saturday Bob Bourne and Billy Smith will be signing at Last Licks Huntington from 12:00- 1:30. Then on Sunday we have Ken Morrow, Bob Nystrom and Al Arbour appearing at Last Licks Massapequa (again from 12:00- 1:30). I noticed a lot of customers at Hall of Heroes last weekend with multi-signed Islanders pieces. This is a great opportunity to add all five guys or even start a new piece.
Then on Monday I am flying down to Tampa for a private signing with Johnny Damon. We have some amazing new Damon photos as well as some cool game used product to get signed. Then from Tampa I am heading straight to Indianapolis for a private signing with Super Bowl 41 MVP (and Steiner Exclusive) Peyton Manning. I will be in Indy for two days before flying back to New York on Thursday. Then a few days after returning from the Manning signing I will be flying out to Phoenix for a signing with 2x NBA MVP Steve Nash. I am really looking forward to this one. Then (I have used the word "then" way too many times on this post) I am heading back to Tampa for several Yankees private signings including Andy Pettitte, Derek Jeter and Philip Hughes. I am not sure yet when I am returning from spring training but am definitely planning on being back for our Charlie Weis event on March 16th.
So there is my tentative itinerary for the next few weeks. I am sure other signings will come up so keep checking the blog daily for updates and recaps. Hope to see you all out in Long Island this weekend for the Islanders appearances.

February 17th- Bryan Trottier, Clark Gillies and Mike Bossy

I just got home from our appearance at Hall of Heroes with Islanders legends Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier and Clark Gillies. While I have done many signings with Gillies in the past, this was my first time meeting Bossy and Trottier. It's hard for even me to believe that I had yet to do signings with those guys (considering how many times we have had appearances with them) but I always seem to be on the road during Islanders appearances. Going into this signing I was praying that Trottier and Bossy were as cool as Gillies, Nystrom and the rest of the guys. If they weren't it would have made for quite a difficult day. I was glad to see that they were both awesome and so easy to work with. They loved taking photos and talking with the fans. As always it was a lot of fun to watch the interaction between the old teammates. Before and after the public appearance each guy signed items in private for us. We were able to get replica cups from each of the 4 championship years. I got some multi-signed as well as individual cups from each guy for every year. They came out unbelievable. Aside from some amazing new photos of each guy we found an image of Bryan, Clark and Mike standing together. They signed a limited number of these with two inscriptions from each guy. Bossy, Trottier and Gillies all flipped out for the new shots as did all the customers. I am really excited about all these new items and building up our already strong Islanders product line. These guys played on one of the greatest dynastys in sports history and deserve to be recognized as one of the top lines ever. Next weekend we have more Islanders signing at Last Licks Massapequa and Huntington. It provides a great opportunity for customers to complete team signed pieces they began today at Hall of Heroes.
Check back for a preview of next weekend's Islanders appearances as well as an itinerary of my next few weeks...wait until you see how crazy it is about to get.

February 15th- Martin Brodeur

I want to apologize to the blog faithful for the lack of both posts and photos this week. We are experiencing a few technical problems with the site I post these through. Hopefully I will be able to get all of last weekend's photos as well as the Brodeur ones up later today.
Early Tuesday afternoon Martin Brodeur came up to our office for a private signing. This was great opportunity to get big equipment items signed. Usually we go to Marty's home so I try to keep the equipment to a minimum. Broduer is having another incredible season and is closing in on several goalie records. It seems that his legend is growing every single game and that he is starting to get recogized a lot more nationally as he gets closer to hockey immortality. We got so many amazing items signed including sticks, replica cups, full size goalie masks and mini-masks. There are also a limited number of web-exclusive inscription pucks so be sure to check out that page.
In keeping with the hockey theme we have an awesome appearance coming up on Saturday at Hall of Heroes. Mike Bossy, Clark Gillies and Bryan Trottier will be signing from 12:00 - 1:30. It should be quite an event.
Check back later for all the photos from this past week (hopefully).

February 11th- Rangers Greats Show

Yesterday we had our Rangers Greats show at the JCC in Scarsdale. It was immediately followed by an appearance with New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist. My day began at 6:30 A.M. when I started unloading my truck and setting up for the show. Overall the appearances were a great success. The first round of public signings began promptly at 10:30 when Ron Duguay, Ron Greschner and Stephane Matteau signed for the public. Dugay and Greshner do not sign very often so there were quite a few customers there to add the guys to multi-signed pieces. While Matteau does come to town occasionally for appearances there was a nice crowd waiting for him. People cannot get enough of that classic Game 7 game winning goal photo. It was one of the greatest moments in Rangers history. After those three were finished we had the two most legendary goalies to ever wear Rangers blue sign from 12:00 - 2:00. Eddie Giacomin and Mike Richter walked in to a ton of applause and chants. Every ten minutes or so there was an "Eddie, Eddie" cheer going. Giacomin is one the nicest athletes you will ever get an autograph from. He is a true gentlemen with both the fans and the media. As I said earlier in the week this was Mike Richter's first public appearance in quite a long time (if ever?). People went absolutely nuts for him. It was awesome as he took the time to stand up and take photos with everyone on line. He really loved talking with fans. I have countless photos I now need to email to customers that were camera-less. After the show wound down we packed up our product and headed across the street to Last Licks Scarsdale for a late afternoon appearance with Henrik Lundqvist. There was already a huge line waiting for him as I pulled up to the store. Henrik arrived at about 4:00 and signed in public for almost an hour and a half. There was an unbelievable turnout considering the Rangers play of late (despite the last two games) and the freezing weather. Rangers fans rank up there with Red Sox fans as some of the most passionate supporters in the world. The day was finally over at about 7 when I loaded up my product to drive home. Aside from the incredible items that were signed in private (including Ed Giacoming goalie masks- the Jason one!) the highlight of the day was, by far, Mike Richter being there. It is extremely gratifying for us, as a company, to be able to bring him in for all of our customers that have been waiting since 1994 to meet him.
Tomorrow I am doing a small private signing with Devils goalie Martin Brodeur. It seems that every day Marty's legend and legacy grows. Last week he had his 10th shutout of the season.
Check back tomorrow for a recap.

February 10th- Jake LaMotta

I just got home from our appearance at Last Licks Thornwood with the "Bronx Bull" Jake LaMotta. While the turnout was nothing to write home about (definitely due in part to the freezing weather) the customers that did come out were extremely passionate boxing fans. One guy drove up from Virginia just to get Jake's signature and trademark "Raging Bull" inscription on an old boxing magazine. LaMotta remains one of my all-time favorite athletes to do signings with. He has an unbelievable signature and will stay until the very end. The final sig is just as great as the first. He told me that work has begun on a sequel to the movie "Raging Bull" and seems really excited about it. We got some exquisite new product signed including "Raging Bull" 11x18 movie posters and a new photo of Jake fighting Jackie Wilson. The Wilson image is, by far, the clearest photo I have ever seen of LaMotta. It is awesome. I was also able to get a limited number of gloves and photos with the inscription "Ray, I never went down" (from the movie "Raging Bull") Those items came out incredible.
Tomorrow we have our big Rangers Greats show in Scarsdale. Hope to see you all there. Check back for updates.

February 8th

Here is, as promised, a quick preview of the upcoming weekend. On Saturday we have the "Bronx Bull" himself, Jake LaMotta, appearing at Last Licks Thornwood from 12-1:30. We will have a great mix of product there for Jake to sign including 11x18 "Raging Bull" movie posters. I am a huge boxing fan and am looking forward to spending a few hours with LaMotta. I have not see him in over a year. Jake does not sign very often so I recommend coming out if you are a boxing collector.
Then on Sunday we have our big Rangers Greats show in Scarsdale. Over the course of the day we will have Stephane Matteau, Ed Giacomin, Ron Duguay, Ron Greschner, Mike Richter and Henrik Lundqvist signing for the public. It will undoubtably be an amazing event. I, and most people, are really excited about Richter appearing. While I have done quite a few private signings with Mike he has never done anything in public. It provides the perfect opportunity for fans to bring their 1994 team pieces in to be completed. Again we will have an awesome variety of unsigned photos there for sale.
Hope to see you all there. Check back throughout the weekend for updates.

February 7th-Cris Carter

I ended my last entry talking about how, even on the most quiet of signings weeks, things seem to pop up out of nowhere. I just did a very small private signing with former Vikings great Cris Carter. Cris was an 8 time Pro Bowler who is sure to be inducted to the Hall of Fame next year. He was also an unbelievable wide-receiver at Ohio State who held the school record for receptions despite playing only three college seasons. Carter was in town to film this season's final episode of HBO's "Inside the NFL". It was great to be able to talk about the Super Bowl and the NFL in general with such a smart football analyst. We got an awesome 8x10 photo signed of Cris with his arms raised after scoring yet another touchdown. It is definitely the appropriate image considering Carter coined the phrase "All I do is score touchdowns".
As I said earlier in the week we have quite an exciting weekend coming up. Check back tomorrow for a preview of both the Jake LaMotta appearance and the Rangers Greats show.

February 5th- Jaromir Jagr and Petr Prucha

Yesterday we had our appearance at Last Licks in Armonk with Rangers stars Jaromir Jagr and Petr Prucha. There was a pretty good turnout considering the frigid weather. Rangers fans rank up the with the most hardcore of any team's supporters. There was a decent line of fans waiting out in the cold for an autograph from the young star and future hall of famer. While the team is struggling now I am very confident that they will climb their way out of this hole and reach the Stanley Cup playoffs. We got some unbelievable new product signed including Jagr 600th goal photos with inscriptions as well as stick and gloves. The gloves came out amazing.
On my way back from the appearance I realized that the first signing I ever blogged was actually Prucha and Jagr last February (almost a year to the day). I thought that was pretty cool. Things always have a way of coming full circle.
I also want to congratulate the Indianapolis Colts and, our newest Steiner Exclusive, Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning on their victory last night. I am really looking forward to our first private signing with Manning on the 20th.
We have a lot going on this upcoming weekend including an appearance with the "Raging Bull" Jake LaMotta and a huge Rangers show on Sunday in Scarsdale. Check back daily for previews, updates and (of course) there is always a good chance that something exciting will come up.

February 3rd- Jorge Posada

I just got back from our office where I did a small private signing with Yankees catcher Jorge Posada. Jorge is a four time All-Star that has been a mainstay in the New York lineup for ten seasons. He played a huge role in the championship years of '98,'99 and 2000. In 2006 Posada had one of his best power seasons while crushing 23 homeruns and knocking in 93 RBI's. He will be vital to the Yankees World Series hopes in 2007 with both his bat and in calling the game for some young pitchers. Jorge has not signed in a long time so there were quite a few send-ins to be done. After the mail-order items were completed we moved on to the rest of the signing which included some fantastic equipment items like game-model gloves and bats. We also did a magnificent new photo of Posada running towards a foul ball right by the NY logo. It is sure to become one of our best-sellers.
Tomorrow we have a public appearance with Rangers stars Jaromir Jagr and Petr Prucha at Last Licks in Armonk. Hope to see you there.
Check back before the Super Bowl for a recap.

February 2nd-Charlie Weis

First and foremost I would like to apologize for the lack of posts this week. It was due, in part, to technical difficulties posting on Monday/Tuesday and also because I unable to log on from South Bend. So with that being said I will get you all up to date on my week.
Tuesday night I went to the Knicks/Lakers game at the Garden. The only reason I want to spend a few sentences on that event is because I was able to hang with Walt Frazier for a few minutes before the game. (if you want to call it a game with the Lakers playing without Kobe Bryant, Luke Walton and Kwame Brown) I mentioned to Clyde that I was running out of descriptive words to use on the blog. He gave me quite a few new adjectives and was extremely enthusiastic in relaying the new phrases to me. I am looking forward to using them and getting a few more from him in the future.
On Wednesday I flew out to South Bend for a private signing with Charlie Weis. The signing was not until Thursday but the flights out there are limited. It had been snowing in Indiana for a few days so I was not surprised that both my flights (the one to Detroit and the connecting one to South Bend) were delayed. I eventually made it to a snow-buried South Bend late Wednesday evening.
I was slated to begin setting up for the signing at 9:00 Thursday morning. After waking up I put on my snow boots and treked out on foot across the snow Notre Dame campus. There was snow blowing eveywhere and , for some reason, I kept thinking about the Hoth scene at the beginning of "The Empire Strikes Back". I did make it there in time to set up and was ready to roll when Coach Weis walked in at noon. The signing with Weis take place in a closed-in loading dock adjacent at the Notre Dame Athletics Complex. It is really cool to walk in the building and see all the trophies. It took Charlie almost three hours to complete the signing. Over that time we talked about a million different things including the Super Bowl, NFL playoffs and about which of his players are entering the draft. I would be shocked if Brady Quinn did not go in the top three or four picks. We also talked a little about Super Bowl 25 where Weis was an assistant coach for the Giants. The reason the signing took so long is that we got some great inscriptions on so much of the product. I was able to get some splendiferous (Clyde word) web exclusive items such as footballs with the date Coach Weis took the program over.
Once we completed the signing everything got boxed up and prepped to ship back to New York. Coach Weis' staff has been incredible in helping me get through these signings quickly. They have been so helpful with the set-up as well as boxing up the items. When I finally left the complex I was pleasantly surprised to see the sun. It had stopped snowing which made the walk back a lot easier.
The following morning is when everything got interesting. The snow was back and my 8:00 flight to Detroit had been indefinitely delayed. I considered taking a bus to Chicago and attempting to fly to New York from there but instead stuck it out in South Bend. We eventually took off at about noon but, at that point, I had already missed two connecting flights to LaGuardia. To make a long story short I finally landed in New York last night with a pocket full of revised flight itineraries. It was quite an annoying struggle getting home (especially with a heavy bag full of supplies and 8x10 photos) but overall it was a successful trip. I really enjoyed spending time with Charlie and got some exquistie product signed for our inventory. I am already looking forward to our event with Coach Weis on March 16th. If any of you are interested in attending check it out on the site and feel free to email me on it.
Later today I doing a private signing with Yankees catcher Jorge Posada. Check back for a recap.
