September 12th- Jim Boeheim
A few hours removed from the Tiki Barber signing I began our private signing with Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim. This was my first encounter with the legendary coach. Jim just got back from Las Vegas where he worked as an assistant coach for the USA team. It was incredible to hear the stories about Carmelo Anthony, Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James (on the same team!). He is already looking forward to next summer's Olympics and seemed pretty confident in our chance of bringing the gold back home. While I really enjoyed talking USA basketball the highlight, by far, was conversing about college hoops. As you all know I am a huge Maryland fan and it was cool hearing his perspective on our team and the ACC in general. Over the course of the hour signing session we were able to get some unbelievable product signed including photos (with the 03 Natl Champs inscription!) NCAA basketballs and a handful of game-used balls. We now have this incredible relationship with Syracuse and you will all be seeing these awesome photos in some new collages and pieces (very cool stuff). Coach Boeheim even signed some strong images of him as a player (he was amazed that we had those).
We have a ton of great signings coming up in the next few days including Archie Manning, Jerry Koosman and Endy Chavez (just to name a few). Keep checking back daily for updates as I will be holding a contest sometime in the next few days.
