September 28th- Nolan Ryan
Yesterday I did a private signing with the Strikeout King Nolan Ryan. While we have done many signing with Nolan in the past this was the first time he has been up to our office. Ryan diligently signed for a few hours while we talked a little present-day baseball. At one point I threw him a Mets jersey and told him we would need him tonight (we still may). It was quite interesting to get his perspective on the playoff races. Ryan is nothing like his touch demeanor on the mound. He is an extremely nice and polite man. Over the course of the afternoon Ryan signed an incredible mix of awesome pieces including blood photos, fight vs. Ventura photos, pitching rubbers, Mets jerseys, Astros photos and a limited number of baseballs with all 7 no-hitters inscribed (with the dates!). Ryan is an absolute must-have autograph for any serious baseball collector and those no-hitter balls rank up there with any great piece I have ever seen.
Later today I am flying to Cleveland for a private signing with Syracuse (and Browns) legend Jim Brown. Check back for an update.
