July 21st

As you can see the past eight days have been as busy as any in recent memory. Since I last left off we have had appearances with Brett Gardner and Doc Gooden...both of which were great. The seat backs are really starting to come out unbelievable and are actually close to halfway complete. Tomorrow I am off to Connecticut for my annual vacation (Wednesday through Monday) so this forum (and my twitter) will be on hiatus as well. When I return I will try to size up August for you all as we have some stellar appearances as well several awesome private signings on the horizon.
Anyway, tonight we have Yankee legend Ron Guidry appearing at Last Licks Rye from 7:30-8:30. Ron is an affordable, must-have autograph for any Yankee fan and it is always a lot of fun when we have him at the stores. Hope to see you there!

July 17th

Yesterday we had our signings with Bucky Dent, Moose Skowron and Bobby Richardson. These posts are definitely becoming somewhat repetitive (the risk I run by actually blogging every day) as it is basically the same routine each day. The Yankee greats come here to sign seat backs- a few different variations. After the private session each player has a store appearance or some sort of event. That has become the daily norm here over the past week ...and there are still a few more days of it. I must say though that the seat backs are coming out unbelievable. When all is said and done these pieces will undoubtedly rank up there with the greatest projects I have ever been involved in. I am extremely proud of the efforts so far on this and the items will look even better as they start to fill up each day. It is actually not as easy as it sounds to expedite this process. Aside from one edition where every single Yankee legend is signing the seat back (and including his Yankee Stadium years) there are several other projects (77-78 team, 61 team) as well as small limited quantities of individually signed backs (with and without some really incredible inscriptions). On top of that is where it gets a little tricky... certain customers have requested specific autographs on their seat backs. This was something that had to be ordered before the process began as to assure all the names they wanted sign them. There are some pretty strange combinations of players and it has become quite a mammoth task keeping these in order.
Anyway tomorrow I am taking a break from seat backs, but not the Yankees, as Brett Gardner will be appearaing at Last Licks Manhattan following the Tigers/Yankees game. As I have said over the past few months Brett's "Inside the Park HR" photo has become a staple piece here so, aside from what will assuredly be a great public signing, I have a great opportunity to get more of these pieces (as it has been virtually impossible to keep in stock).
Hope to see you there. Enjoy the weekend!

July 16th- Mickey Rivers and Graig Nettles

Yesterday afternoon Yankee greats Mickey Rivers and Graig Nettles popped in to sign seat backs and some other incredible pieces at our office. In what is becoming routine as of late Yankee legends are signing in private each afternoon and then heading over to our stores for public appearances. Mick and Nettles knocked out the private in no time. Not only did they sign the Yankee Greats seat backs and some amazing individual ones but I also started a 77-78 team project. After a little over an hour here at the office we went to Last Licks Scarsdale for a short one hour public appearance. While it was far from an impressive crowd on hand (we announced this only a few weeks ago...and these two have definitely done the rounds at all of our stores over the years) those that were in attendance seemed absolutely thrilled to meet these two. Mickey and Graig took photos with everyone and shared stories with many of the customers.
Speaking of stories- I was able to get some ridiculously amazing video of Rivers discussing some of his favorite Yankee moments. I will have these up later today so be sure to check them out. I already posted quite a few photos on twitter so take a look at those as well.
Later today we have signing with Bobby Richardson, Moose Skowron and Bucky Dent.
Then tonight Bucky will be appearing at the Steiner Sports Store from 6:00-7:00.
Hope to see you there!

July 15th- Charlie Hayes

Yesterday was our private signing/public appearance with Yankee legend Charlie Hayes. Hayes will always be remembered for catching the last out ball of the 1996 World Series. While we have done a lot with Charlie in the past (courtesy of MC Sports) this time was a little different as he came up to our facility before the public to autograph seat backs. After adding his name to some special multi-signed project stadium seat backs Hayes also signed a handful with the "Last Out '96 WS Champs" inscription...they came out unbelievable. Upon completion of the private we headed out to Roosevelt Field Mall for an hour appearance. There were a few avid collectors there who could not wait to add Hayes to their 1996 team pieces as well as several people who just happened to walking through the mall... Those of you who have yet to come to a public appearance at the Steiner Sports Store over the past six months definitely need to come check it out. Most of the time the athlete is signing out in the open in the mall (rather than at the store). The new set up has helped us out tremendously in flowing the line better. Thursday evening Bucky Dent will be signing there so come check it out.
I apologize for the short post but I am about to jump into yet another signing/appearance. Tonight we have Graig Nettles and Bucky Dent at Last Licks Scarsdale (after a round of seat back signing here at the office).
Hope to see you there!

July 14th

After a day and a half of preparation (and a three day weekend spent mostly at Citi Field and the Dark Star/Keller Williams show at Governor's Island) it is time for a crazy stretch of signings to begin. Over the next eight days I will have a minimum of nine Yankee signings. Our seat back project is in full swing and, before each of the stellar store appearances this week and next, each Yankee great will be stopping by our office to autograph these pieces of history. Not only is the seat back thing heating up but we are also a day or two away from unveiling the coveted new Yogi Berra photos that I spoke of a few weeks ago. Suffice to say there is a ton of excitement around here and will try to keep posting blogs each day covering these signings and events. I will also continue to put up cool photos on twitter daily so be sure to check them out.
Tonight I will be at the Steiner Sports Store for the Charlie Hayes appearance...hope to see you there!

July 9th

In conjunction with our Yankee seatback project(s) we have announced several stellar appearances at our stores over the next two weeks. Here is a quick rundown:
Tuesday July 14th we have Charlie (Say) Hayes signing at the Steiner Store from 6:00-7:00. Charlie will forver be synonomis with the last out of the '96 World Series and the beginning of the dynasty. He is a really nice guy and an affordable autograph... definitley worth coming out for.
Wednesday July 15th Mick "The Quick" Rivers and Graig Nettles will be appearing at Last Licks Scarsdale from 5:30-6:30. It has been quite some time since we have had these two in publi, let alone together, so it should be a great event.
Thursday July 16th Bucky Dent will be at the Steiner Store from 6:00-7:00. It has been years since we have Bucky out in Long Island so I would imagine there will be an awesome crowd on hand.
Saturday July 18th Brett Gardner will be appearing at Last Licks Manhattan after the Yankee game. I have talked about Brett a lot over the past month or so. The inside the park photo has quickly become one of our best sellers and a must-have for any Yankee collector.
Monday July 20th Ron Guidry will be signing at Last Licks Rye from 7:30-8:30. It has actually been awhile since our last Gator appearance so, just like the other ones, it should be a great one.

Anyway, as you can see from the above it will be incredibly busy over the next week and a half. In the middle of all those evening appearances there will be several more private signings and probably even another event or two.
With all that in mind I am taking a three day hiatus but will be back strong on Monday with new posts, photos and a few VIP contests on twitter.
Have a great weekend!

July 8th

Today is the first day in well over a week that I have had no signings. As you all know from yesterday's post it has been out of control of late as we have been rolling along on both our exciting seat back project (s) as well as Mariano's 500th save product. Over the course of the next few weeks there will be a ton of Yankee signings (sometimes 3-4 in a day) as former players will be in town for Old Timers Day. Hopefully this massive endeavor will be completed by summer's end and I will try my best to get some photos up on twitter showcasing the progress.
The Mariano 500th collection will also undoubtably be a reoccurring theme over the course of July and August. It is such a massive milestone and we have created one of the most extensive product lines ever to commemorate it. Not only do we have MLB baseballs, caps, jerseys and photos but also have Citi Field product and multi inscription balls. It really is some of the best product we have ever put out there so be sure to check it out on this very site.
Tomorrow we have a signing with Dodgers star pitcher (and Steiner Exclusive) Clayton Kershaw. He was absolutely dominant last night against the Mets and is starting to put together quite a resume for any 21 year old athlete (let alone a starting pitcher for the LA Dodgers!). Check back tomorrow for a recap of the signing and be sure to check out all the great photos I have posted on twitter.
Enjoy the day!

July 7th

It has been quite awhile since my last post. The last week has been an absolute whirland. After last Saturday's stellar appearance at the Steiner Sports store with Knicks legends John Starks and Anthony Mason I have done ten or so signings and have been buried in these stadium seatbacks. Things really went into overdrive last Sunday when I expidited a private signing with Andy Pettitte up at our office. We banged through a ton of items including the fabeled seatbacks. I have started several different editions and projects and this was a great opportunity to get Andy rolling in this process (he still has his fair share to sign even after last Sunday).
Then Sunday night I headed over to Citi Field for the Mets/Yankees game. I had mixed feelings going into the night as my boy Mariano was stuck at 499 saves. While I was really looking forward to him reaching that milestone I definitely did not want it to happen against the Mets. Unfortunately/fortunately? it did obviously happen at Citi in one of the strangest games I have ever witnessed. Immediately after the game I texted Mo congratulations and we were pretty much locked in together the entire week. We are boasting some incredible product commemorating this achievement including everything from hats with inscription to jerseys with inscription to Citi Field balls with inscription (my idea) and even some ridiculously awesome multi-inscription pieces highlighting Mo's 1st, 100th, 200th, 300th, 400th and , of course, 500th save (very cool stuff- be sure to check it out on this site). Personally I was able to get my program and ticket signed from the game...which will be amazing collectibles years from now.
Anyway aside from all the excitement surrounding Rivera I had a ton of other things going on last week. Here is the abbreviated rundown:
Last Tuesday I signed with both Yankee fan favorite Nick Swisher and Notre Dame great (and current Dolphins star) Anthony Fasano. Then on Wednesday 1996 World Series MVP (and current Mariners pitching coach) John Wetteland came up here to sign seatbacks and some other choice product. Probably my highlight of the week was when Mariano called me during the signing with Wetteland. It was great to connect the two and hear John congratulate the man who was his setup guy back in '96.
Then came Thursday when Joba Chamberlain stopped in for a private signing. Aside from the usual variety of jerseys, baseballs and photos Joba also autographed the seatbacks...both the projects we are working on and some fantastic individual ones where his Yankee Stadium years and "Joba Time" were inscribed. Chamberlain has definitely become one of my favorite athletes to work with.
That brings us to this week. Yesterday Eli Manning came through for a private signing. We were able to reload on some of our staple pieces including the classic "scramble" (both with and without SB XLII MVP inscription in both 8x10 and 16x20) and on all the equipment. Being that Eli was up here we made sure to get as many helmets, footballs and mini-helmets done as we could. Photos are very easy to bring somewhere but equipment (especially football stuff) is a pain.
So there you have it... we are now up to date. As busy as the past week has been it is actually about to get a lot busier. With Yankee Old Timers Day less than two weeks away we will be jamming with Yankee signings (and trying to keep moving on these seatback projects).
Hopefully I will be able to keep up each day with the posts. I have been posting photos a little more regularly on twitter so be sure to check those out.
Enjoy the rest of the day! Let's Go Mets (they need help..big time)!
