March 4th

In my last post I touched a little upon our Meadowlands demolition project. Just like with the old Yankee Stadium we are handling the sales of practically everything from Giants Stadium. Over the past two weeks I seen a plethora of awesome signage as well as monster loads of seatbacks and turf arrive at our warehouse. At last weekend's Giants Supershow we began several different seatback projects including five signature pieces commemorating the three Super Bowl wins. Also, just like with the Yankees, we have started a Giants Greats seatback which will wind up with well over twenty signatures by the time the project reaches completion. The possibilities are endless with this product (we haven't even really scratched the surface as far as the Jets are concerned) so we are as excited as can be over this endeavor. As was the case with the Yankees last season we will be having quite a few small public appearances with Giants and Jets this spring and summer.. starting with the great Lawrence Taylor at Last Licks Rye on March 20th. Having said that, I actually have many more Giants Stadium memories than I did The House that Ruth Built (easy for a Mets fan to say that- granted I have more than my share of new Yankee Stadium memories from last year's travels). Let's see: I remember seeing McCartney there in '92, well over 20 Springsteen shows there (including a nice 8 out of 10 run back on the Rising tour- a wedding in Jacksonville ruined a perfect score there..), the divisional playoff win over the Eagles in '01 (Dixon's 97 yard return and Sehorn's interception!), the 41-0 NFC championship victory over the Vikings in 2001, the Super Bowl XLII season (which culminated in quiet an offseason for me working with the Giants- that whole playoff run was exciting as I recall key autograph signings before and after the Green Bay game and then, of course, the team signing), and, last but not least, a few Dead shows both live in person and in the archives (6/17/91 being one of my all time favorite tapes- absolutely wore it out in college). Just like last season with the Yankees I would love to hear some of your favorite Giants Stadium memories- definitely go ahead and post on the comment part of this page.

Anyway (having said that and keeping with the football theme) I mentioned yesterday that we have Dick Butkus appearing at the Steiner Store this Saturday from 12-2. It will undoubtedly be a great one.. Hope to see you there!

Enjoy the day!, GTS...
