March 26th
As I have mentioned several times over the past few weeks we are in the process of moving to a new, improved, larger facility. I was over there a few days ago and could not believe the progress and how quick the warehouse build is coming along. I thought it was difficult moving into a new apartment... (after my second year at 4216Knox my roommates and I basically gave up on moving and left half our clothes and stuff in the middle of our living room before leaving...a few days later we saw maintenance workers rolling around College Park in Mets jerseys)...that is nothing compared to this. The major moving is planned for this weekend and we should be up and running at 145 Huguenot Street Monday morning. With that in mind it has been extremely difficult to get posts up. We have had (and will continue to have for the next three days) a monster signing week. Early next week be on the lookout for a ton of posts catching up on the signings as well as the move. I am really excited about my newest toy...an HD camcorder. The next few entries will include some impressively strong video.
Have a great weekend!

Henrik Lundqvist
On Thursday Henrik Lundqvist of the NY Rangers stopped by the office to do a small signing for us. His autographed collectibles have always been a hot item for us.
Check out this video I took during the signing. I promise you....the next video we do will be in HD. So you have to come back next week and check it out.

Every once in a while I like to break from the typical posts and discuss some of the incredible lots that we have up on auction on this very site. We just (literally minutes ago) launched a bunch of brand new lots of unsigned photos. They are grouped by sport and even several lots by team...and the starting bid on each is $1! I am particularly interested in the Lakers 8x10 lot (obviously). It guarantees photos of Jerry West, Magic Johnson and Kobe...very cool. There is also a Knicks lot and several baseball, football and hockey lots. Two of the NBA lots even include an autograph (one by Walt Frazier and the other by Paul Pierce). Anyway, these really are a steal as each lot offer hundreds to thousands of amazing photos and moments. Check them out here
Good luck!

March 18th- Congratulations Marty
Congratulations Martin Brodeur on netting victory #552 last night. As we all know that victory placed Marty on yet another page in the vaunted NHL record book. He now has more wins than any goalie in the history of the league. There will be much more on this in the days to come as we are preparing for a private signing with the superstar and will be proudly adding to his already exceptional exclusive collection. We are already offering product on this site so be sure to check it out...

March 17th- Marty Brodeur
Here are some old photos of Brodeur signing. After the last post I figured it would be cool to dig these up...

Tonight Martin Brodeur looks to break Patrick Roy's league record for career victories. I am not the biggest hockey fan (nor have I ever professed to be on here) but one cannot help but get caught up in a moment as historical as Marty's eventual eclipsion (not sure if that is a word but it sounds really cool) of Roy's and his own mark of 551 wins. I actually knew very little about Brodeur (and hockey in general) when I first met him several years ago. Since first working with him at our office (probably around 2003?) I have done numerous signings with the legendary goalie both here and at his home in New Jersey. Aside from being one of, if no the, greatest goaltenders in NHL history Marty ranks as one of the nicest, easiest athletes to work with. I remember one time we were signings sticks at his house when all of a sudden (out of nowhere Brodeur's dog lifted his leg and urinated all over the sticks.... luckily the sticks were in plastic bags but none the less it was hysterical. We laughed for quite some time after that as it was difficult to re-start the signing after the incident. That is definitely a pretty random story but ironically that was my number one Brodeur memory... until now. I can't recall the last time I sat and watched a hockey game in it's entirety. This weekend I got very close to viewing the whole Montreal game and , without a doubt, will be locked in this evening.
From a collectors standpoint Marty is a must-have autograph. I rarely throw around the term must-have but any avid hockey fan's memorabilia collection is incomplete with the (soon to be) winningest goalie in NHL history. We already offer a tremendous Brodeur product line and are ready to introduce some new pieces once the old record is shattered. We are already accepting pre-orders on these as the signing will be coming up very soon. There will undoubtably be a lot more Brodeur discussion on here in the coming days...Go Devils!

Going into today I was not really quite sure of what, if anything, to discuss here. We have a ton going on here at Steiner (especially with our exciting move to a bigger/better facility in a few weeks) but it has been fairly light on the signings end. That is about to change dramatically as you all know from the appearance schedule I posted several days ago. Last night I did a quick signing with Mike Richter at his home. It basically was the back-end of that stellar appearance he did with Henrik Lundqvist a few weeks ago at the mall. There will be much more Rangers talk in the next few weeks as we have an amazing event coming up shortly involving Mike, Mark Messier and Brian Leetch...not to forget the Avery, Callahan and Girardi signing in Manhattan on the 23rd plus a private signing with King Henrik.
With all that on the horizon I actually decided to focus today's entry on you all- the readers/viewers. As we start to do more and more in this forum with video and audio versus still photos and text (ironically the second we switched to video I decided to write everyday after being bored with it for months) I would love for you all to email me questions for the upcoming athletes. Ideally I would like them to focus on the autograph industry and their signatures but feel free to email any that you have. I will try my best to get a question or two asked and answered on video at each of the upcoming appearances (check back a few posts ago for a complete list).
Anyway, enjoy the weekend...another big week will begin before we know it.

We recently launched a phenomenal game/promotion on our auction pages called the $20,000 Bracketology Giveaway. The premise, which quite honestly took me a little while to grasp, is actually pretty simple. Once the 65 teams are selected for this year's NCAA Tournament we will then place all 65 team names individually hidden somewhere on the auctions. Once you, the reader/customer, finds a team's name email it to 20000giveaway@steinersports.com . The first person to email a team name to that address has that team for the tournament...the catch is you only get one team. The key is to locate the UConns, North Carolinas, Pitts, Memphis' etc and email my boy Kramer at 20000giveaway@steinersports.com ...moral of the story is not to unearth Siena and be the first to uncover those marginal programs (then again at least Siena will be in the 65 while my Terps seem to be NIT bound again...how can one program fall so far in such a short period of time?...2002 seems like an eternity ago...guess this how it feels to be a Yankee fan??)
Anyway, there are seven tiers of gift card prizes ranging from $100 to $5000. While searching for the top teams you will all undoubtedly discover some of the treasures we offer daily on the auctions.

I have devoted quite a lot of time on here lately discussing some of our new tremendous product (and rightfully so...the dirt collages and turf plaques rank as some of the most glorious collectibles we have ever offered). With that in mind I have definitely neglected to talk about some of the exciting things we have coming up over the next few weeks. Here is a brief rundown of some extraordinarily prodigious public appearances we have coming up from now until the end of March
-Thursday March 19th- Danilo Gallinari at Last Licks Armonk. This guy is really starting to come around. There, for the first time in years, are actually a few bright spots (and possibly a light at the end of the tunnel) for the Knicks. Come out, show your support and take a chance on an inexpensive autograph of a possible star in the making.
-Monday March 23rd- Sean Avery, Ryan Callahan, Dan Girardi at Last Licks Manhattan - Rangers signings are always fun. While I am far from a big hockey fan the Rangers fans rank as some of the most passionate ones out there. For those of you who have yet to meet Sean Avery I urge you all to come check it out... he is great.
-Thursday March 26th- Marty Lyons, Kenny Stabler, Cornelius Bennett at Last Licks Manhattan- As I discussed a few posts ago we now are partners with Alabama. We are really enthusiastic about this relationship as there is a gigantic alumni and fan base. We have been doing appearances with Marty for quite some time but this will be the first one focusing on his stellar college career.
-Friday March 27th- Michael O'Keefe at Last Licks Manhattan- O'Keefe played Danny Noonan (or Timmy as Ty Webb calls him in the opening scene) in Caddyshack (one of, if not the, greatest movies of all time). We will be offering Caddyshack posters, golf balls and Bushwood flags to be autographed by Michael... I plan on getting one of each.
-Sunday March 29th- Osi Umeniyora and Michael Strahan at Last Licks Manhattan- These are two of my favorites athletes to work with. Amazingly enough we have never had the pair appear together in public. This is a must attend for any Giants fan...especially those who do not yet own an Osi/Strahan dual signed over Brady photo.
As you can see the next few weeks will be jam-packed (not only at our stores but also at the Beacon Theater with 13 nights of Allman Brothers remaining- the last two shows were nothing short of legendary with guest spots by Taj Mahal, Levon Helm, Larry Campbell, Johnny Winter and David Hidalgo plus others...) I am as enthusastic about a few weeks in March as I have ever been in this industry...Hope to see you all at a few of the appearances.

Hope you all had a great weekend. Saturday we brought my man Clyde Frazier to an appearance in New Jersey...as always #10 delivered and the signing was a success. This weeks looks to be another solid one with a few signings (Mike Richter and Sherman Douglas), a few Allman Brothers shows (the Beacon Theater residency begins in a matter of hours), and even more new, affordable products to go out with (on both the main site and auction).
In the past I never discussed pricing...but now - with all the unbelievable reasonably priced new pieces that we have created I figured it was time to break that trend. I/we are incredibly charged up about a new portion of this site simply called "Great Gifts Under $100". There is a section for unsigned pieces as well as signed product. Ironically we are even more excited about the unsigned offers than the autographed pieces. Last week I touched upon the Dallas Cowboys turf plaques and the Yankee Stadium dirt collages. Not only do we offer these (most of which are priced anywhere from $29.99 to $99.99) but we also have Syracuse Carrier Dome Court Plaques and dynamite unsigned framed final game at Shea Stadium pieces. The sharpest of all these items, in my humble opinion, is the Yankee Stadium Final Season Dirt Crystal paperweight. These collectibles (considering the current economic state) really make the perfect gifts for birthdays, Fathers Day and graduations (the latter two are coming up sooner than we realize- it was in the 60's this weekend!) While we always have and will continue to offer high end unique memorabilia - including game used, vintage, multi-signed, etc.- these affordable pieces of history are quickly becoming an integral part of our product line. One last note on this topic...We are only a few weeks away from Opening Day at the new Yankee Stadium... and that means new dirt. All of these classic, staple dirt pieces will once again be revisited using the first dirt from the very first home stand at the new cathedral (the Mets fan in me didn't want to use that noun but figured you would all appreciate me calling it that)... so be on the look out for an entirely distinct line of new Yankee Stadium collectibles.

March 5th
I have been pretty out of touch with wrestling for a while. While habitating 4216 Knox Road in beautiful College Park Maryland (for the better part of five tremendous years) I was an avid fan...Monday nights would be a major event in my house (as would Sunday night- X-Files!). I was more into WCW (NWO 4 Life still...see my Rodman post from a few years ago) but still kept up with WWE. Since then I have gone back to the well a few times but definitely fell off. After the events of the past ninety six hours I am undoubtably going to tune in this coming Monday to give it another shot.
Over the past five days we have had three WWE appearances/signings...each topping the previous one in terms of both turn out and positive feedback from the customers. It started Saturday with CM Punk, continued Sunday with Shawn Michaels and the trifecta was concluded last night with an historic event starring Jeff Hardy.
I call it historic because it was the first and definitely last (considering our move in a few weeks) public signing at our corporate office. Five-hundred plus people flocked to our mall and with all hands on deck it was a total success. I could not believe how many people came to these signings but truth be told it is the norm when one of these WWE stars appears. These stars are larger than life and the marketing team at WWE has created an incredible brand around them. Practically every customer had a Jeff Hardy t-shirt and/or armband(s) and many brought their own magazines/posters or DVDs to be autographed. Hardy, as well as Michaels and Punk, really do endear themselves to the fanbase by giving the customers real facetime and a little bit extra than the typical celebrity...to use a phrase thrown around here a lot - they get it...it being that the fans are what matters most. These WWE stars seem as genuinely appreciative of their fanbase as anyone I have ever worked with and personally I am hoping we have a lot more of these events in the upcoming months.
Anyway, enjoy the video and photos as they should be up shortly.

March 4th
First and foremost I hope you all have been enjoying the videos that we have been posting on here. I have received many emails with nothing but positive feedback on them and am extremely excited about this new direction. Ironically, as bored as I was in writing the blog going into 2009, I miss writing... so I am going to try my best to find a happy medium between the two.
These past few weeks have been a whirlwind (there will be some videos going up shortly). Since I last posted I have done signings with Gene Stallings, Magic Johnson, Derek Jeter, Joe Frazier, Phil Simms, Eli Manning, Henrik Lundqvist, Mike Richter and OJ Anderson...plus a public appearance with wrestling icon Shawn Michaels. In the middle of all those signings we have been cranking away at our office on exciting new deals (such as the Alabama/Steiner partnership...thus the Gene Stallings signing) as well as preparing for our move to a bigger, better facility which is going down in a few weeks.
One of the most exhilarating of our newest ventures is, by far, the Cowboys/Steiner partnership. Aside from an astounding array of game used jerseys, pants and locker room chairs we are markedly delighted to now offer game used Cowboys Stadium turf plaques. It is one of our hottest sellers right now and fits right along with where this industry (in this economy) is at right now...an affordable piece of history. The Cowboys in essence (as much as it pains me to say it) are the Yankees (..ironically two teams you could not pay me enough to root for), as are Notre Dame. All three franchises transcend sports and are as much a part of pop culture as they are a part of their respective leagues. We proudly have relationships with all three institutions and offer affordable historical pieces for each. Towards the end of last year I spoke about the Yankee Stadium dirt collages. We are still cranking through an impressive amount of dirt each day and it remains a top seller. The turf is an absolute must have item for any Cowboys fan...just as the dirt is for a Yankee fan. With all that in mind the Yankees are less than six weeks away from opening up their new stadium. There will be quite a bit to talk about on here relating to the demolition of the old stadium... as well as collectibles from the new stadium. As the weeks go on look for a lot more on stirring new product releases and a whole lot more as we count down to opening day.
This evening we have a public appearance with wrestling mega-star Jeff Hardy. Originally the signing was to be held at Last Licks Armonk but due to the ridiculously cold weather we have moved the 6:00 PM event to our corporate office. (I remember in high school waiting on line for Pink Floyd tickets in a blizzard..pre-dates Internet ticket sales..anyone remember the numbered wristbands?)
Anyway, there will be some video up shortly and a lot more to come in the next few days....
