March 15th

Despite the horrific weather this weekend's signings went off without a hitch.  Friday night, as the rain and wind started to pick up, I headed to the Steiner Store for an evening appearance with Islanders Alternate Captain Kyle Okposo.  While it has been quite some time since the Isles' golden age of the early '80s the fanbase remains loyal and ranks as one of the more rabid in the NHL.  This was never more evident than Friday night where fans came out in droves to meet the young star.  Kyle, who was as nice as can be and extremely easy to work with, took photos with everyone.  It was also great to see that the majority of the crowd were kids.  Overall it was a successful event and we are already looking forward to doing more with Kyle in the future.
That brings us to Saturday where we had two Westchester baseball appearances.  Thankfully, even with the cold rain and wind, all our signers travel was unaffected and everything started on time.  In Armonk we had Hall of Famer Bob Feller signing.  While I was not at that one I had heard it was a good one and it gave us an opportunity to re-up on some of our staple Feller pieces (MLB baseballs, Hall of Fame inscription baseballs and gloves).  Instead of going to Feller I was at Last Licks Rye with Frtiz Peterson, Bucky Dent, and Sparky Lyle.  The weather was abysmal but there was still a decent crowd on hand (it was so windy that one point the door opened and the wind knocked several frames off the wall).  As you know from my past postings , Bucky and Sparky are two of my favorites.  I have been working with them forever and both are always a blast to hang with.  Fritz was great too.  His whole story is extremely interesting.  Aside from the family swap (a movie is actually in the works right now about it) the guy had quite a career.  He owns the distiction of having the lowest ERA in old Yankee Stadium history.  Not only did we get all of our staple pieces from Bucky and Sparky but were also able to get some inscription balls from Fritz notating that achievement.
That brings us to this week which will undoubtably be a good one.  We have a private signing with Henrik Lundqvist plus appearance with the great Lawrence Taylor as well as Devils star Travis Zajac.  Be on the look for updates both on here and on twitter (where I am going to post some photos from this past weekend).
Enjoy the day and stay dry!

Another thing that grinds my gears is when I can't find the droids I'm looking for.
